The Muslim is in a trade whose profit is the highest paradise, by keeping a strict account of one firstly over the accounts of worldly profits.
So it is incumbent on everybody who has firm resolute, believes in Allah and the last day that he should occupy himself with self accountability. He must restrict himself upon this in his movements, whilst stationary and in his thoughts, because every moment in a person’s life is like an expensive jewel.
This is because the soul inclines towards what may benefit it from wealth and status. It goes into excesses, thus invalidating its actions, because what sprouts in spring may kill or eat up nothing but the sweet greenery.
So it is important to know the characteristics which the soul finds pleasant, thus invalidating one’s actions by them and losing the reward while one does not know.

I felt that I should hurry in bringing forward the hadeeth: ‘The two feet of the son of Aadam will not move from near his Lord on the Day of Judgment until he is asked about five (matters): about his life – how he spent it; about his youth – how he took care of it; about his wealth – how he earned it and where he spent it; and about that which he acted upon from the knowledge he acquired,’ as an aid towards purification of the souls and preparation of death. In this treatise I restricted myself to one part of the hadeeth and that is ‘…and about that which he acted upon from the knowledge he acquired.’

Kitab Ash-Shifa bi ta’rif huquq al-Mustafa, (Healing by the recognition of the Rights of the Chosen One), of Qadi ‘Iyad (d. 544H/1149CE) is perhaps the most frequently used and commented upon handbook in which the Prophet’s, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, life, his qualities and his miracles are described in every detail. Generally known by its short title, Ash-Shifa, this work was so highly admired throughout the Muslim world that it soon acquired a sanctity of its own for it is said: “If Ash-Shifa is found in a house, this house will not suffer any harm… when a sick person reads it or it is recited to him, Allah will restore his health.
Ash-Shifa gathers together all that is necessary to acquaint the reader with the true stature of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with the esteem and respect which is due to him, and with the verdict regarding anyone who does not fulfil what his stature demands or who attempts to denigrate his supreme status – even by as much as a nail paring. QADI ‘IYAD His full name was Abu al-Fadl ‘Iyad ibn Musa ibn ‘Iyad ibn ‘Imran ibn Musa ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Musa ibn ‘Iyad al-Yahsubi, the famous Imam. He was born in Ceuta in the month of Sha’ban, 496 AH and lived there although his family originated from Andalusia. According to his son, Muhammad, his ancestors originated in Andalusia and then moved to the city of Fes, staying in the Qarawiyyin at some point.

Why did Allah send His Messengers?
Allah sent His messengers in order for Him to be worshiped alone without any partner associated with him, as He said:
“And we did not send any messenger before you (O Muhammad (PBUH) but we revealed to him (saying):{none has the right to be worshiped but I (Allah}, so worship Me (alone & none else).” {Al-Anbiyaa (21):25}
There is also the Prophet’s saying: “I am sent with the sword when the day of resurrection is around the corner, until Allah alone is worshipped, & there is no partner for Him.” Reported by Ahmad.

After the events of September 11, I s aw the need to compile a book about terrorism and religious extremism in the world today. After publishing this book, it occurred to me that another subject – that of negligence in religious affairs – was also in desperate need of being addressed for both Muslim and non- Muslim readers. On a daily basis, we are being inundated with different kinds of man-made liberalist ideologies in the mainstream media. Because of the sheer volume and almost monotone voice of many media outlets, people are given the impression that these ideologies must be accepted by every living individual and society in the world today, and that the validity of these ideologies is not open to question.
At present, Westerners and liberalists in general are intrigued as to why people are still turning to Islam for enlightenment in this modern age. This is particularly intriguing for those who are convinced that Islam is something that impedes progress, and that Islamic civilization has proven to be inferior to other civilizations as a result of its adherence to Islam. This subject has been addressed in this book as a response to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s remark that Islamic civilization is “stuck where it was 1400 years ago.”
I have also analyzed the two main reference points in Western humanist thinking throughout the book. The first of these is the belief that people are free and responsible for deciding their own actions, and therefore, that God should only have a personal, marginal place in their lives. The other important point of reference for Western policy and societal orientation is the belief that the opinion of the majority should act as mankind’s principle criterion in shaping human behaviour and legislation.
One of the major points of contention that liberalists have with Islam is the reluctance the Muslim world has shown in embracing these two principles. Some liberalists take a more militant approach in trying to spread these two principles in the Muslim world, while others censure these tactics, hoping that more temperate policies will win the Muslims over to contemporary humanist values. Whatever the method, the message remains the same: Muslims must change their beliefs and eventually conform to this ever-changing series of humanist values.
After reading this book, the reader will be able to judge whether the devotion that people have towards these two principles is actually deserved. It is also my hope that this book will contribute to a better understanding of Islam, and I welcome any kind of feedback from anyone who finds any points of contention within it.
