نبذة عن الكتاب: الكتاب من كتب اهل السنة المختصرة في ابواب السنة والاعتقاد والعبادات والاداب وهو معروف عند كثير من اهل العلم بكتاب الابانة الصغرى تمييزا بينه وبين كتابه الاخر الابانة عن نشريعة الفرقة الناجية ومجانبة الفرق المذمومة وهو كما يعرف بالابانة الكبرى. وقد بين ابن بطة رحمه الله سبب تاليفه لهذا الكتاب انه لما راى بعد الناس في وقته عن السنة والاشراك بها وانتشار البدع واستحسانها واتخاذهم للجهال والمضلين اربابا وائمة في الدين وهذا ما حداه بان يصنف لهم كتابا مختصرا يذكرهم فيه بالسنة والاستمساك بها وما كان عليه سلف الامة وعلماء الاثر ويحذرهم فيه من البدعة والاهواء المضلة. والكتاب مقسم الى اربعة اقسام: الاول: سرد الاحاديث النبوية والاثار السلفية. الثانية : ذكر اعتقاد اهل السنة والجماعة. الثالث: ذكر الواجبات والسنن والاخلاق والاداب مما تجب له الحاجة. رابعا ذكر فيه البدع التي احدثها الناس مما لا اصل لها في كتاب الله ولا جاء من اثار السلف الصالح. وقد سلك المؤلف مسلك الاختصار مع حذف الاسانيد. ومن اراد الاطالة والاستبيانة فعليه الرجوع الى كتابه الابانة الكبرى
