Know, may Allah show you mercy, that upon viewing and contemplating the upper and lower universe, all that it is endowed with of widely varying creations, and what is continuously occurring anew within it at every moment, you will come to logically know that all that is possible can be categorized within three groups: The First: That these activities and creations came into existence by themselves without a maker or creator. This is impossible and outright rejected. Logic can clearly state necessarily that this is false and it is known for certainty that whoever thinks that is closer to insanity than sanity. This is because every rational person knows that it is impossible for anything to exist without a maker and causer. The Second: That these creations originated and created their own selves. This is also impossible and outright rejected. Anyone with the least intellect is definite on the fact that something cannot originate itself just as it cannot come into existence without an originator. Once these two categories are logically and instinctually invalidated then the other category is clearly designated which is: The Third: That these creations and happening have a creator and originator that created and made them and that it is Allah the magnificent Lord, the creator of everything, disposer of everything and controller of all affairs. Accordingly, Allah alerted mankind to this logical categorization that is clear to any logical person. He said: “Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief.”

The Creed of Al-Wasitiyyah

A textbook on orthodox Sunni creed The Creed of Al-Wasitiyyah by Shaykuhl- Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (661-728 AH) being a translation of al-Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah Written in response to a request from a Shafi Judge from Wasit, Iraq, Ibn Taymiyyah penned this creed encapsulating the belief taught by the Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him. In his words, ‘this is (an exposition of) the belief of the saved group, those who are aided until the establishment of the Hour: Ahlul’l-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah.’ The tract is relatively brief but comprehensive, marked by its terse and precise statements. As one would expect of the author, the work draws heavily on the Qur’an and authentic hadiths of the Messenger. It commences by listing articles of belief concerning Allah, in particular His Names and Attributes and the principles which must be applied to understand them. It then moves on to discuss topics such as the Qur’an, seeing Allah, the punishment of the grave, some of the descriptions of the Last day and the events that will occur therein, the divine decree, faith, the Companions and the Awliya. The author, Taqi ud-Din Abu’l-Abbas Ahmad Ibn al-Halim ibn Abd al-Salam Ibn Taymiyah al-Hanbali was born in , 661 AH (1263 AC) in Haran, which is now in Eastern Turkey, near the border of northern Iraq.. His family had long been renowned for its learning , among his teachers, was Shams ud-Din Al-Maqdisi, first Hanbali Chief Justice of Syria following the reform of the judiciary by Baibars. The number of Ibn Taimiyah’s teachers exceeds two hundred. Ibn Taimiyah was barely seventeen, when Qadi Al-Maqdisi authorized him to issue Fatwa (legal verdict). Qadi remembered with pride that it was he who had first permitted an intelligent and learned man like Ibn Taimiyah to give Fatwa. At the same age, he started delivering lectures. When he was thirty, he was offered the office of Chief Justice, but refused, as he could not persuade himself to follow the limitations imposed by the authorities.

This was from the completeness of his understanding and excellent understanding of the religion. He didn’t cite a verse clarifying praiseworthy etiquettes, subsidiary judgments, past events, horrors of the Day of resurrection or similar to that; rather, ‘Ubay selected the verse which is dedicated to clarifying and acknowledging at-Tawheed.

A Description Of The Supererogatory (Sunnah) Prayers
£7.95O Muslim, be consistent with the regular supererogatory Prayers, imitating the excellent example of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). As Allaah said,
“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allaah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the meeting with) Allaah and the Last Day, and remembers Allaah much.” [Sooratul-Ahzaab 33:21]
Being consistent with the supererogatory Prayers is also a way to compensate for any fault or deficiency that transpired in the obligatory Prayers.
Man is prone to fall short and fail to achieve perfection, and therefore he is in need of something to compensate for his negligence.
For this reason – O Muslim – you cannot afford to neglect the regular supererogatory Prayers, as this will earn you extra rewards, which you will find with your Lord.
Along with every obligatory act, whether it is the compulsory prayer, compulsory fasting, compulsory zakaat or compulsory Hajj, a corresponding supererogatory act has been legislated. All of these obligations are accompanied by similar supererogatory acts that have been legislated to compensate for any flaw and to rectify any discrepancy.
The fact that Allaah has prescribed different acts of worship, so as to elevate His servants in degrees and cleanse them of their sins, is a blessing which He bestows upon them.
Furthermore, my dear brothers, you should know that performance of the regular supererogatory prayers is heavily emphasised and it is disliked to abandon them. Whoever continuously leaves off these Prayers is considered to be sinful , and according to some Imaams such a person is untrustworthy because constantly leaving off these Prayers suggests a weakness in his Religion and negligence on his part.

The Fiqh Is not Based on any Madhad or School of thaught.
He was from the Zaydi school of law originally, and called for a return to the textual sources of the Quran and hadith. He viewed himself as a mujtahid, or authority to whom others in the Muslim community had to defer in details of religious law. Of his work issuing fatwas, ash-Shawkani stated ‘I acquired knowledge without a price and I wanted to give it thus. Part of the fatwa-issuing work of many noted scholars typically is devoted to the giving of ordinary opinions to private questioners. Ash-Shawkani refers both to his major fatwas, which were collected and preserved as a book, and to his “shorter” fatwas, which he said “could never be counted” and which were not recorded.
He is credited with developing a series of syllabi for attaining various ranks of scholarship and used a strict system of legal analysis based on Sunni thought. He insisted that a jurists who wanted to be a mujtahid fī’l-madhhab (a scholar who is qualified to exercise ijtihad within a school of Islamic law), was required to do ijtihad, which stemmed from his opposition to taqlid for a mujtahid.
Despite his Shiite background, he is regarded by many as a revivalist and has influenced contemporary Islamic movements in the Muslim world such as the Ahl-i Hadith and Salafi Movement . His legal decisions and discussions are frequently used in contemporary debate among Muslim scholars.
Allama Shawkani died in the year 1255 A.H.
