Ibn al Qayyim’s Sincere Advice to ahl al-Sunnah About the Obligation of Supporting the Truth – Imam Sa’di, Ibn Uthaymeen & Ibn al-Fawzan
This heartfelt advice issued by ibn al Qayyim in his famous Nuniyyah is an exhortation to ahl-Sunnah about supporting the truth and the traits necessary for doing so, such as knowledge, certainty, courage, firmness, patience, tawkul, sincerty, genuineness, and many other important qualities. Ibn Sa’adi characterizes this advice as follows: ‘[ Ibn Al Qayyim] commences a beneficial preface and comprehensive advice that every student of knowledge is in need of… it is befitting to being assigned precedence over [ Studing] the etiquette of the scholar and the student. This is because it entails pieces of advice needed by every person desiring felicity in both worlds”. Ibn Uthaymin describes the exceptionality of these golden bits of advice, saying: ‘ In reality, these are guidelines. If while encountering these bits of advice you recorded and took note of them, and then transferred them to a specified notebook, it would prove to be of a great benefit and reference source for you. That is because these are guidelines that you won’ find anywhere except in this book.
The Benefits of Fearing Allah
The Benefits Of Fearing Allah :
Fearing Allah is the shield for us and our families in this life, for whoever fears Allah then he is protected. It is from amongst the best provisions for a believer, benefiting him in this world, easing his affairs for him, protecting him from Shaytaan, causing him to enjoy high station in the world, as well as east and good tidings at the time of death. Fearing Allah is a treasure which each one of us should seek as the virtues, blessing and fruits attached to it are vast, indeed the advice which Allah has given his servants from the time of Adam up until now, has been to have taqwa (fear of Him).
The pious predecessors (salaf) did not stop giving mutual advice for having taqwa (fear) of Allah in their sermons, their corresponding letters and their testaments after the Messenger of Allah passed away.

The Fundamentals of Tafseer by Muhammad ibn Saalih al-Utaymeen
The Fundamentals of Tafseer & Tafseer of Soorahs: al-Faatihah, al-Ikhlaas, al-Falaq and an-Naas
Certainly, within every science it is important for a person to learn its fundamentals, so they may generously serve in understanding the science and extracting the principles of what the science has to offer based on those fundamentals. This way, a person’s knowledge will be built upon a strong foundation and firmly established roots. It is said that whoever is prevented from learning the fundamentals, he is prevented from arriving (at what benefits the science has to offer.)
One of the most important sciences of knowledge, rather the most important and noble of all sciences is the knowledge of Tafseer, which is the explanation of the meanings of Allaah’s speech. The people of knowledge have established fundamentals for it, just as they have with the science of Hadeeth or Fiqh.
I have already written a simple work regarding this knowledge for the students attending the Knowledge Institute at Imaam Muhammad ibn Su’ood Islaamic University. Some people requested that I make it a separate book to make it easier and more thorough. As a result, I have now done this, and I ask Allaah to benefit others by it.
