Islam the Perfect Religion

£2.00
Islam, the Perfect Religion is the translated text of a lecture by the eminent scholar Muhammad al-Ameen ash-Shinqeeti delivered in the Prophet’s Mosque at Madinah. Those who heard the lecture were inspired by it, and asked the Shaykh to publish it for the benefit of many around the world. The Shaykh addresses the key foundations of Islam. He begins with the belief in the Oneness of Allah and goes on to discuss the divine gift of Islam to humanity, in the form of the guidance of the Qur’an and the wisdom of the Shari’ah. Islam’s solutions to broad social, political and economic issues are also touched on.

I Want to Repent, But (Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid)

£3.50

Author: Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid
Publisher: International Islamic Publishing House IIPH (2006)
Pages: 69 Binding: Paperback

Praise be to Allah, we praise Him and seek His help. Whomever Allah guides cannot be led astray, and whomever He leaves astray, cannot be guided. I bear witness that there is no god except Allah alone, with no partner or associate, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Allah has commanded all the believers to repent, as He says (interpretation of the meaning): “… And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.” [al-Noor 24:31]

People may be divided into two types, those who repent and turn to Allah, and those who do wrong; there is no third category. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “… And whosoever does not repent, then such are indeed zaalimoon (wrong-doers, etc.).” [al-Hujuraat 49:11]. We are living in a time when many people have strayed far from the religion of Allah, and sin and immorality have become so widespread that there is no one who remains free from the taint of evil except for the one who is protected by Allah

However, Allah will not allow but that His light should be perfected, thus many people have awoken from the slumber of negligence. They have become aware of their failure to fulfil their duties towards Allah, have regretted their carelessness and sin, and so have started to move towards the beacon of repentance. Others have grown weary of this wretched life of misery, and so they are looking for a way out of darkness and into the Light.

But these people face many obstacles which they think stand between them and repentance, some of which exist within their own selves, and others in the world around them.

For this reason I have written this brief work, hoping to clear up this confusion, dispel doubts, explain wisdom and drive away the Shaytaan.

Following an introduction which discusses the dangers of taking sin lightly, I then explain the conditions of repentance, psychological cures, and fataawa (rulings) based on evidence from the Qur’aan and Sunnah which are addressed to those who repent. This is followed by quotations from some of the scholars’ comments, and my own concluding remarks.

I ask Allah to benefit me and my Muslim brothers through these words. I ask no more from my brothers than that they should pray for me and offer me sincere advice (naseehah). May Allah accept the repentance of us all.

£17.95

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya on the Invocation of God Al-Wabil al-Sayyib

In describing ‘Al-Wabil al-Sayyib’, here translated into English for the first time as ‘Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya on the Invocation of God’, the author says, ‘We have mentioned [in it] nearly one hundred benefits of remembrance of God [dhikr], and the secrets of remembrance…This is a book of great usefulness.’ Written in the fourteenth century by the renowned theologian Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, this treatise movingly details the many blessings of the remembrance of God. Through discussions of the ego, the nature of the body, the ephemerality of the world, the degrees of prayer, fasting, charity, and the purification of the heart, this beautifully written work is a genuine contribution to Muslim spirituality. What makes ‘Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya on the Invocation of God’ of great interest is that it illustrates the spiritual life of Ibn Qayyim and of his teacher, the Hanbalite reformer Ibn Taymiyya.

I felt that I should hurry in bringing forward the hadeeth: ‘The two feet of the son of Aadam will not move from near his Lord on the Day of Judgment until he is asked about five (matters): about his life – how he spent it; about his youth – how he took care of it; about his wealth – how he earned it and where he spent it; and about that which he acted upon from the knowledge he acquired,’ as an aid towards purification of the souls and preparation of death. The advice being firstly to myself, secondly to the du’aat (inviters to Allah’s path) and thirdly to all my Muslim brothers in every part of the world – hoping that Allaah, the Most High, will cause benefit through that which I have written and that the fruits of that may be reaped, now and in the future. In this treatise I restricted myself to one part of the hadeeth and that is ‘…and about that which he acted upon from the knowledge he acquired.’

The continuous political hostilities between the West and Muslim world made many people forget the fact that the three big faiths of mankind ‘Judaism, Christianity and Islam’ have originated in the house of Abraham and they share grounds greater than the differences between them. This book provides a positive approach to the family relationship between the children of Ishmael ‘Arabs’ and their cousins the children of Israel. It approves from Islamic point of view the divine origin of Judaism and Christianity as well as it places the last Prophet Mohammed in his natural place in the house of Abraham, based on the many prophesies referring to his forthcoming in the Torah, Psalm and the Gospels. It is an intellectual constructive approach to the philosophy of comparative religion.

Dua can be defined as any invocation or prayer addressed to Allah (SWT) and is the most intimate ritual acts between the servant and his Lord.

In our times, we find many reasons why people do not make Dua, either they forget, don’t know how, or just do not think it will be answered.
The Prophet ﷺ said, “Verily your Lord is generous and Shy. If His servant raises his hands to Him (in supplication) He becomes shy to return them empty.” (Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)

This book deals with invocation (Dua) and its conditions, described in detail is the correct manner of supplicating to Allah (swt) on order to be accepted by Allah (swt). The author outlines the topic using evidenced from the Quran and Prophetic traditions (Sunnah) to bring the reader closer to Allah (swt)

Also outlined are the prohibited forms of invocating and supplicating to distinguish between the Mubah (permissible) and the Haram (prohibited) forms of making Dua.

Introduction
The book in hand is based on a certain occasion. During my visit to USA, on 21December, 1997, as I was invited by the board of administrators of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq Mosque in Brooklyn, New York, my intimate friend, Hamid Nabawi, presented some questions to me. These questions were sent by some Christian missionaries intending to distort the image of Islam and challenge Muslims thereby.
Undoubtedly, their attempts were in vain for they behaved like a naive man who strikes a piece of steel with his .head thinking he could split it.

It is noteworthy that the challenge of these Christian missionaries was supported by the following two factors:

i) Those missionaries have gotten partial knowledge of Islam, which, in turn, led them astray. Generally speaking, when knowledge adheres to whims, it will be
more harmful than ignorance itself.

  1. ii) The opponents of these missionaries have had no profound knowledge of  Islam. They shouldered the task of defending Islam due to the lack of
outstanding scholars in their countries. Their shortcomings, however, were revealed in many aspects. Following are some of these:1- They were not well-acquainted with their status quo as well as their beliefs.

2- They erroneously thought that all those who disagreed with them in following their religion, Islam, had to be fought, killed, and boycotted.
In so doing, they would defame the image of Islam.

3-Their women’s state reflected their misunderstanding of Islam. Rather, what they used to acquire from Western women who wanted to know Islam presented their unawareness of the characteristics of Islam, even unwillingly and with good intention

This book outlines the basic Islamic concepts in child education. The author has tried to coordinate the main ideas, as well as the basics precepts for raising Muslim children in all the different spheres of life. First of all, the importance of correct belief and faith cannot be inculcated in young children except through the teaching and example of their parents; and obviously, the role of the mature and religious mother is foremost.

This state of harmony can only be achieved when matrimonial relations are relatively stable. Care is to be taken in providing young children with all the necessary elements in the fields of ethical, physical and psychological education. This cannot be overemphasized. It is established that the common ailments of human societies, personal as well as social, find their remedy in monotheism and justice. Therefore, emphasis on these two moral principles is essential. Muslim children must develop a clear understanding of the concept of the oneness of Allah, mainly through the performance of devotional acts of worship, to Him, and through developing a sense of justice in all personnel and social dealings.

The author has briefly outlined these glorious concepts in this book. Through his deep understanding of Islam, and his eminent conviction and personal adherence to its glorious principles, he introduces this book to the readers, with all practical instructions, with the intention of helping to build up a Muslim nation, worthily to uphold the honourable tenets of the Glorious Qur’an and Sunnah.

Shaikh Saalih Al-Fawzaan states:”The remembrance of Allaah, the Most Perfect and Most High, deters the Satan from a person and causes him to be distant from him. The Satan is a wolf against mankind, so if a person remembers Allaah, He turns him away from him. For this reason Allaah describes Satan as the ‘whisperer withdrawing’ (waswaasun khannaas). Satan is a ‘whisperer’ if the servant is negligent of the remembrance of his Lord, he draws near to him, whispering evil thoughts to him. And he is a ‘withdrawer’ when a servant makes remembrance of his Lord, who withdraws from him and distances himself from the servant. So there is no salvation for the son or daughter of Adam from the avowed enemy Satan, except with the remembrance of Allaah . Indeed remembrance (dhikr) is an impenetrable fortress by way of which a Muslim protects himself from Satan. By the remembrance of Allaah, the Most High, the tranquility and contentment of the hearts is attained…”

One of the main roots of the Islamic faith is the belief in the Unseen. It is obligatory upon every Muslim to believe in the Unseen without any shadow of doubt. The Unseen is that which is not in our sight, yet Allah and His Prophet (SAW) have informed us about it. Jinn is part of the Unseen and we must believe in their existence, following the evidence confirming it in the Qur?an and the Sunnah

Dealing with Worries and Stress

£4.00

Dealing With Worries & Stress

Taken from the Authors introduction  It is the nature of this life that people will suffer from worries and stress, because this world is the place of disease, hardship and suffering. It is also the nature of this life that people have to put up with suffering and hardship for various reasons. So people feel regret for what has happened in the past, anxious about what may happen in the future, and worried about what is going on in the present. The things that cross our minds and makes us feel distressed are things in the past that have caused grief, things in the future that we are worried about, and things in the present which concern us. People react differently to stress and worries, depending on how many things are concerning them, whether the worry is continuous or not, and on whether they have faith in their hearts or are rebellious and sinful..

Ranks of the Fearful (P/B)

ranks of the fearful :

Allah, the Most High, has praised those who possess the attribute of a heightened sense of fear Saying,
“And such (are the believers) who are humbled by the fear of their Lord…” [Al Muminun, 57]

The element of fear exists within mankind in varying degrees. When the fear of Allah is established in the hearts, it eliminates wrongdoing and attachment to worldly desires. It is a light that navigates a person through sin and temptation, and when this fear is removed, it easily leads them astray – for surely true and praiseworthy fear is being vigilant from transgressing the limits of Allah. Yet when fear exceeds its proper boundary, it gives rise to hopelessness and despair, which is equally blameworthy. The attribute of fear therefore, is not the end goal itself, but a means towards a successful end.

And He also Said: “… fear Me alone, if you are believers.” [Ali’ Imran, 175]

‘Al-Khawf ‘ is from the smaller works of Imam Ibn Qudamah, who is better known for authoring major authoritative treatises of Hanbali jurisprudence and doctrine. In this short book, he brings disquieting realities of fearing Allah in a unique perspective; elucidating some profound insight into the topic, its reality and merits, types and levels and cures that bring about fear. It also discusses causes that lead to a bad ending for people on this earth, while taking rooted examples from the lives of the fearful ones from among the Angels, Prophets and our righteous predecessors.

Levels of People in the Hereafter

£4.50

The Levels of the People in the Hereafter
Author: Ibnul Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah.
Publisher: Salafi Publications
Paperback 67 Pages

Description
So these are the levels of the people, and their ranks in the Abode of the Hereafter, as mentioned by Ibnul-Qayyim (died 752AH) and they are eighteen in number.
The highest level is that of the Messengers, may Allaah extol and grant them perfect peace and security.

These levels, as you will see, comprehend all the types of Mankind and Jinn: their old and their young, the Muslims and the Unbelievers, the obedient and the disobedient, their people of knowledge and their ignorant ones, the leaders from them and the subjects. The Imaam, the verifier, Ibnul-Qayyim mentioned them in his valuable book ‘Tareequl-Hijratayn wa Baabus-Sa’aadatayn’ (Two Migrations and the Door to the Two States of Bliss). And by ‘the two Migrations’, he meant migrating towards Allaah and to His Messenger through true Faith (Eemaan), love, and obedience; and by ‘the two states of Bliss’ he meant the Bliss of this world and the Hereafter for those who were true Believers and who performed righteous and correct deeds.

So this is a marvellous classification in which he explained what is for or against each level. It includes the correct Belief (`Aqeedah) with regard to the Prophets, and the Messengers, and the righteous servants of Allaah – and their virtues, ranks, and the reward that Allaah, the Most High, has prepared for them; and it includes the virtues of righteous and correct deeds; just as it includes the correct Belief regarding the Hypocrites (al-Munaafiqoon), and the Unbelievers, and those who associate others with Allaah in worship – and what He has prepared for them from torment and humiliation.

Introduction

Muhammad messenger of allah  Ash shifa of qadi iyad
Gadi iyad ibnmusaal yahsubi

Translated by aisha abdurrahman bewley

Kitab Ash-Shifa bi ta’rif huquq al-Mustafa, (Healing by the recognition of the Rights of the Chosen One), of Qadi ‘Iyad (d. 544H/1149CE) is perhaps the most frequently used and commented upon handbook in which the Prophet’s, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, life, his qualities and his miracles are described in every detail. Generally known by its short title, Ash-Shifa, this work was so highly admired throughout the Muslim world that it soon acquired a sanctity of its own for it is said: “If Ash-Shifa is found in a house, this house will not suffer any harm… when a sick person reads it or it is recited to him, Allah will restore his health.

Ash-Shifa gathers together all that is necessary to acquaint the reader with the true stature of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with the esteem and respect which is due to him, and with the verdict regarding anyone who does not fulfil what his stature demands or who attempts to denigrate his supreme status – even by as much as a nail paring. QADI ‘IYAD His full name was Abu al-Fadl ‘Iyad ibn Musa ibn ‘Iyad ibn ‘Imran ibn Musa ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Musa ibn ‘Iyad al-Yahsubi, the famous Imam. He was born in Ceuta in the month of Sha’ban, 496 AH and lived there although his family originated from Andalusia. According to his son, Muhammad, his ancestors originated in Andalusia and then moved to the city of Fes, staying in the Qarawiyyin at some point.

200 Signs Of The Magicians & Sorcerers, The Cure For Magic

As magic, trickery, lying and cheating has become widespread in the Muslim world and people have had their money taken in falsehood, by the vilest of creation, lying magicians, it has become a duty on the salafi Muslim, who has some concern for Allah deen and his sick Muslim brothers, to expose the ways of the magicians and clarify the reality of such sinful disbelievers. What encouraged me to write this booklet is the fact that these people make the haram halal, deviate from the creed of the Salaf and play with Muslims sanctified honour.

Prayer in Congregation

Islam exhorts its followers to make their social life a visible expression of god-consciousness. The aim of religion as we know is to develop a spirit of piety & god-consciousness in man, this is known as taqwa. Islam hightens this aim by saying that this god-consciousness must be materialised in a social order that is permitted by religion. It is for this that prayer in islam has been divided into two parts, one part is relates to individual devotion to Allah. Here a person, as a single entity, is trained to develop love for Allah through nafl or voluntary prayers. The second part is collective prayer, this trains a person in how religious piety is to be transfused into society.

They fall under the list of virtues and good deeds that Islam propagates to establish the Muslim’s life on a foundation of good and upright character.

It needs to follow the way of the best creation, our prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah PBUH. We know that the elements which can improve Islamic and non-Islamic society are the ones which were carried out by the companions.

We also know that the prophet PBUH in Makkah first and then in al-Madeenah. Nothing will improve the Ummah’s modern society apart from what improved the first society of this Ummah, as a number of scholars have stated, such as, Imam malik ibn Anas, who was the Imam of al-madeenah in his time and is one of the four imams.

The Legislative Position on Qur’aan Khwaanee (Reciting the Qur’aan to Benefit the Deceased One)

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah who said, the Messenger of Allah (e) said, ‘if a person dies, his actions cease except for three: A righteous child who makes du’aa for him, the continual charity that remains after he has died, and beneficial knowledge (that people benefit from)

A discussion on the common practice of Qur’an Khwaanee, reciting the Qur’an, alone or often in a group intending that the reward be granted to the deceased one. A practise that is often done to commemorate monthly or annual anniversaries of a friend or relative who passed away. This is a prevalent event which encompasses much of the Muslim world and has been passed down generation upon generation and is widely accepted and considered praiseworthy by many Muslims. The author keenly identifies several key topics relative to the discussion such as:

• The importance of following the Qur’an and Prophetic texts as it relates to worship

• A look at the actions of the Companions, was this from their practise?

• The religion of Islam being a complete religion with no stone left unturned

• The dangers of innovatory practises as it relates to Islam

• The statements of the scholars of old on the topic

• A firm conclusion on the issue urging the reader to align himself with the Book and the Sunnah and to resist any acts of worship that are not from it

Gentleness O People of the Sunnah, with the People of the Sunnah’

A translation of the second edition of Shaykh Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad’s ‘Rifqan Ahlus Sunnah bi Ahlus Sunnah’.

The first edition was published in 2003/1424H and was originally written as a much needed and timely advice directed to his brothers and sisters among the People of the Sunnah due to the turmoil and controversy that had occurred as a result of the defamation and heretication of certain scholars and students of knowledge.

In the second edition, which was published in 2005/1426H—a mere two years later—the shaykh added a new introduction addressing some issues that were raised by certain groups after the first edition was published and distributed. He also added two chapters to the end of ‘Rifqan Ahlus Sunnah’, titled ‘The Heresy of Testing the People by Individuals’ and ‘Cautioning Against the Tribulation From Some of the People of the Sunnah in This Era of Disparaging and Heretication’.

We have also added the shaykh’s follow up advice titled ‘Once Again, Gentleness O People of the Sunnah, with the People of the Sunnah’. This was published in December 2010/Muharram 1432H and shows that the shaykh’s stance on gentlesness between Ahlus Sunnah stands to the current day.

Please see the back cover for selections from the praise of the scholars (including Shaykh Fawzan) for this work.

All of this leads the reader into an enthralling series of refutations of the false notions of the Ash’aree sect, a text-by-text breakdown of how and why they went wrong in a careful and precise study of fifteen texts from the Book and the Sunnah. The beliefs of the Ash’aree sect are destroyed and the origins of their deviation are exposed for all to see.

About Imam Shawkani

He was from the Zaydi school of law originally, and called for a return to the textual sources of the Quran and hadith. He viewed himself as a mujtahid, or authority to whom others in the Muslim community had to defer in details of religious law. Of his work issuing fatwas, ash-Shawkani stated ‘I acquired knowledge without a price and I wanted to give it thus. Part of the fatwa-issuing work of many noted scholars typically is devoted to the giving of ordinary opinions to private questioners. Ash-Shawkani refers both to his major fatwas, which were collected and preserved as a book, and to his “shorter” fatwas, which he said “could never be counted” and which were not recorded.

He is credited with developing a series of syllabi for attaining various ranks of scholarship and used a strict system of legal analysis based on Sunni thought. He insisted that a jurists who wanted to be a mujtahid fī’l-madhhab (a scholar who is qualified to exercise ijtihad within a school of Islamic law), was required to do ijtihad, which stemmed from his opposition to taqlid for a mujtahid.
Despite his Shiite background, he is regarded by many as a  revivalist and  has influenced contemporary Islamic movements in  the Muslim world such as the Ahl-i Hadith  and Salafi Movement . His legal decisions and discussions are frequently used in contemporary debate among Muslim scholars.
Allama Shawkani died in the year 1255 A.H.

Sacred Freedom Western Liberalist Ideologies in the Light of Islam

£8.50
Sacred Freedom Western Liberalist Ideologies in the Light of Islam:

Contains a concise and frank examination of the legitimacy of atheism, humanism, pluralism, democracy and secularism as guiding ideologies for humankind. Discussing the consequences of a pluralistic worldview, Sacred Freedom questions whether the West has examined the realities of democracy before endeavouring to spread it by force around the world.

Are ideologies derived from Western historical experiences universally applicable? Has the West arrived at a balanced understanding of personal freedom? These are only some of the important questions raised in this unique book. Daring to probe the revered and unquestionable, Sacred Freedom gives readers the opportunity to explore these topics from a viewpoint they might otherwise not be exposed to.

From the Introduction:

After the events of September 11, I s aw the need to compile a book about terrorism and religious extremism in the world today. After publishing this book, it occurred to me that another subject – that of negligence in religious affairs – was also in desperate need of being addressed for both Muslim and non- Muslim readers. On a daily basis, we are being inundated with different kinds of man-made liberalist ideologies in the mainstream media. Because of the sheer volume and almost monotone voice of many media outlets, people are given the impression that these ideologies must be accepted by every living individual and society in the world today, and that the validity of these ideologies is not open to question.

At present, Westerners and liberalists in general are intrigued as to why people are still turning to Islam for enlightenment in this modern age. This is particularly intriguing for those who are convinced that Islam is something that impedes progress, and that Islamic civilization has proven to be inferior to other civilizations as a result of its adherence to Islam. This subject has been addressed in this book as a response to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s remark that Islamic civilization is “stuck where it was 1400 years ago.”

I have also analyzed the two main reference points in Western humanist thinking throughout the book. The first of these is the belief that people are free and responsible for deciding their own actions, and therefore, that God should only have a personal, marginal place in their lives. The other important point of reference for Western policy and societal orientation is the belief that the opinion of the majority should act as mankind’s principle criterion in shaping human behaviour and legislation.

One of the major points of contention that liberalists have with Islam is the reluctance the Muslim world has shown in embracing these two principles. Some liberalists take a more militant approach in trying to spread these two principles in the Muslim world, while others censure these tactics, hoping that more temperate policies will win the Muslims over to contemporary humanist values. Whatever the method, the message remains the same: Muslims must change their beliefs and eventually conform to this ever-changing series of humanist values.

After reading this book, the reader will be able to judge whether the devotion that people have towards these two principles is actually deserved. It is also my hope that this book will contribute to a better understanding of Islam, and I welcome any kind of feedback from anyone who finds any points of contention within it.
