ABOUT THE BOOK:
An index of the Ahadith contained in the Six major Hadith collections based upon the tarf, or beginning segment, of those hadith. This work contains narrations from the popular Sunans, Sahihs and Muwatta. Ordered in alphabetical format according to narrators, what they narrated, who compiled them in terms of the relied upon books and finally the rulings in regards to its authenticity. Second volume only contains alphabetical ordering of the narrations mentioned in this work and where to find it in the book.
An Excellent work for those researching Ahadiths.
ABOUT IMAM AL-MIZZI:
He is al-Imam, al-‘Allamah, al-Muhadith, al-Hafid, Yusuf ibn al-Zakki ‘Abd al-Rahman bin Yusuf bin ‘Abd al-Malik bin Yusuf ibn ‘Ali bin Abi az-Zuhur al-Halbi, al-Mizzi ash-Shafi, born in 654 in Cyprus or Hilb. He memorized the Qur’an at early age and continued to memorize other islamic works in different sciences. His memory was so impeccable that he became popular because his veracious need to memorize and read most of the largest works in Hadith. He had well over 1000 Teachers he heard and narrated from. Imam Dhahabi said of him: ‘I have not seen in our times anyone better in memorizing than him…’. He was close companion of Ibn Taymiyya and they have narrated from eachother in various Ahadiths. He was mainly the dean of Jama’at al-Hadithiyah in Damascus. He wrote beneficial works among them:
– Tuhfah al-Ashraf: an index of the hadith contained in the Six major Hadith collections based upon the tarf, or beginning segment, of those hadith.
– Tahdhib al-Kamal fi asma’ al-rijal: a reworking of Al-Kamal fi Asma’ al-Rijal, a collection of hadith narrator biographies, later abridged and extended by Imam ad-Dhahabi as well as Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani. Among his students were Ibn Taymiya, Dahabi, al-Barzali, Ibn Sayyid al-Nas and Taqiyu Din as-Subki. He became ill and passed away short after that in 742.
